Soooooo...who's brave enough to admit they watched Eurovision?? I can't really deny it seeing as i posted a billion facebook statuses about it :') i like to think that i really get Eurovision. I am its intended audience. I can't help it. It draws me in, like a comet pulled from orbit or something. I get proper excited by it. I watch the semi finals. I score that countries. This year i even painted my nails as little French flags because I thought (and still think) Amaury Vassili should have won.
Anyway...my favourite acts this year (apart from France, back to them later) were most definitely Moldova, Sweden, Ireland and Spain. Can't believe Spain came last-it was such a happy, catchy song!! Never mind. For those of you who didn't watch it, Moldova were represented by Zdob si Zdub who wore massive cone hats, shouted most of the song and featured a unicycling fairy. Yeah. Here's the link-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqNmLtMBTSw. I have seen this countless times now and i still hasn't lost any of its...umm...charm.
Also singing this year were, of course, Jedward, representing Ireland. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXouSYabDig. If you think they're out of time due to excessive excitement and energy, you should have seen them in the final. Unfortunately i couldn't find i link but trust me, it was like watching two sparkly red monkeys who'd had one too many cups of coffee and had just been told there would be free cake for all. My family were in tears of laughter watching them. Naturally, the UK gave them 12 points, but the traitors only gave us about 6!!
On the subject of voting, Graham Norton was on top form-when France gave us one point, he commented "One?? We built a tunnel to your country." Whatta legend.
Sweden had a really good artist this year-Eric Saade with his song Popular. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nfx0OMM2u0A. He actually looks spookily like someone i know. But i really liked his song, and the glass breaking, although that didn't work out on the night...probably a good job-health and safety would have had a field day!!
The UK placed 11th overall, which isn't that bad, although we were third (i think) the other year. But with 100 points, that was ten times better than last year!!
So, back to France. AMAURY VASSILI. I have already decided to name one of my children after him. Unless i marry him. Obviously. I absolutely LOVE his song <3 ok so it maybe wasn't 'Eurovision' enough, but only because it was so damn good!! One sec...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwhMsJQl2ps. There are no more words.
Anyway, i hope if you did watch it that you had a great night, and maybe if you've not watched it, i might have convinced you for next year...? No...ah well. Over and out x
